Never Enough Corn Guide

Quest coins & the Seed Lab

Quick answer

Quests pay Quest Coins. The Exchange sells six permanent upgrades — Probability Research, Sales Negotiation, Maintenance Efficiency, Storage Expansion, Seed Discount and Land Contract — and quest rewards also feed the Seed Lab, which raises your corn yield.

Quests are Never Enough Corn's second economy. They pay out Quest Coins — the blue counter next to your money — and those coins buy upgrades money cannot: permanent, farm-wide multipliers that stay with you forever. Here is the full exchange table and what to buy first.

Where Quest Coins come from

Every task and quest on the left side of the screen feeds this currency. The quest list mixes scales — a "Plant 1,500 Corn" goal next to "Harvest 1 Civilization Corn" — and they all pay in coins or cash. You don't choose the order; the game doles tasks out as you progress, so the coins arrive at a steady drip that rewards showing up.

The Quest Coin Exchange, in full

Walk up to the counter (the clerk with the laptop) and you get six cards. This is the complete table as captured in an official screenshot:

UpgradeEffectLevel capShown valuesFirst-level cost
Probability ResearchIncreases your Corn Chance BonusLv. 15+30% → max +1500% (+30% per level)2 coins
Sales NegotiationIncreases your Corn Sale Price BonusLv. 150% → max +400% (+20% per level)1 coin
Maintenance EfficiencyReduces upgrade costsLv. 20% → max −20% (−10% per level)10 coins
Storage ExpansionIncreases tractor capacityLv. 50% → max +50% (+10% per level)5 coins
Seed DiscountReduces seed purchase costsLv. 30% → max −60% (−20% per level)1 coin
Land ContractReduces land purchase costsLv. 30% → max −30% (−10% per level)10 coins

Read a card top to bottom: current level (Lv. 1 / 15), what it does today ("Current: +30%"), what the ceiling looks like ("Max: +1500%"), what the next level adds, then the price. When you can't afford it the button says "Not Enough Quest Coins" — no partial purchases.

The Seed Lab: the other sink

The store description is explicit that quest rewards have a second home: "Use quest rewards to improve your abilities and increase your corn yield at the Seed Lab." So quests feed both the Exchange (permanent multipliers) and the Seed Lab (abilities and yield). The screenshot record doesn't cover the Seed Lab's full menu yet — we're not going to guess at its upgrade list, and this section will grow as it gets documented.

What to buy with your first coins

Coin income is slow early, so the first few purchases matter. Our reasoning, not gospel:

  1. Probability Research is the long-run king. +30% chance per level, fifteen levels deep — this is the upgrade that eventually makes the 0.00001% a real target rather than a joke.
  2. Sales Negotiation is the fastest payback. One coin for +20% on everything you sell — if you're planning a long session, it pays for itself before lunch.
  3. Seed Discount and Land Contract are math upgrades. Take them right before heavy seed buying or land expansion, not on spec.
  4. Storage Expansion whenever a run keeps ending at a full trailer; Maintenance Efficiency only ever makes sense as a late-game purchase (it first costs 10 coins to save 10% on upgrades).
